Who can benefit from Professional Liability coverage?

Realtors, lawyers, and even the director and officers that run a business often need a little extra coverage. In some cases, extra coverage is even required to legally do their job.

Here’s a breakdown of some of the specialty professional coverage options Unland offers our customers.

Directors & Officers Liability

This coverage provides directors and officers of corporation protection against damages from claims that resulted from negligent or wrongful acts in the course of their duties.

This policy also covers the corporation (as well as the directors and officers in some cases) from legal expenses incurred defending lawsuits caused by these negligent or wrongful acts. These policies always require the insured to retain part of the risk uninsured.

Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI)

Employees are one of the single greatest risks of lawsuits for a business.

Even suits that have little or no ground to stand on can cost an employer thousands of dollars in attorney fees. EPLI provides protection against discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, failure to employ or promote, employment-related defamation and more.

The coverage is known by various titles. Employment-related practices liability, management risk protection, employers E&O and Americans with Disabilities Act insurance are basically the same coverage. Most policies provide limits ranging from as low as $25,000 per claim up to $1 million. Policies may cover employees as additional insureds.

Errors & Omissions Insurance (E&O)

Designed to protect professionals in a profession that doesn’t involve the human body – lawyers, architects, engineers, insurance agents, real estate agents, and others – E&O insurances provides coverage for mistakes or failure to perform the work as promised.
