General Coverage

Accidents happen, and when they do it’s good to have Unland in your corner.

There are certain types of coverage options for business owners that are a given and there are insurance options available that you may not need.  Our experienced professionals will help you pick and choose which coverage options are right for you.

General Liability

Regardless of how careful you are, you can easily be sued for negligence.... opening yourself up to costly legal expenses or even putting your business as a whole at risk. A commercial general liability policy provides vital, comprehensive protection. This policy encompasses all of your business locations and covers bodily injury, medical payments, defense costs and personal & advertising injury such as claims of slander and libel that are not part of your professional services. You may choose to protect your business with general liability insurance on either an occurrence type of policy or on a claims-made basis. Some causes of loss are excluded, however, so be sure to look at your complete policy.

Property Insurance

Whether you own your building, lease a workspace or work at home, business property insurance is another key player in making sure you are properly covered. Commercial property policy provides coverage for real and personal property that is used in a business such as your building, outdoor sign, furniture and equipment, inventory, any fences or landscaping, as well as other people’s property.

Crime Insurance

Crime insurance protects your business from many types of crime. Someone breaks into your business over the weekend.... covered. Papers were forged or altered and you’re now facing huge fees... covered.  Basically, most crimes that causes your business a loss – employee dishonesty, forgery, theft, burglary, robbery, kidnap, extortion, fraud – is all covered in this policy.

Umbrella Insurance

Sometimes the payout for serious situations is more than your current policies can cover. In the event that happens, this policy takes over.  Our agents can talk you through whether this coverage is needed for your particular business and if so, how much extra coverage you need. This policy protects you for any claim that exceeds the limits on your primary business auto, general liability and workers compensation policies. It also provide coverage for some sources of loss that are not covered by your primary policy. These cases will be subject to a deductible, however.

Auto Insurance

Large fleets to small businesses – if you use a vehicle for business purposes, you should have it covered with a business auto insurance policy. How is this different from a personal auto insurance policy? Simple. Personal auto policies were not meant for business use, so they offer different eligibility, coverage, definitions, exclusions and limits. This coverage is designed to provide a "standard" form for insuring commercial vehicles.

Equipment Breakdown Insurance

When you have equipment breakdown, it disrupts your entire business flow. Equipment breakdown insurance protects you against loss from disruption of boilers and machinery which includes: 1) loss to the boiler and machinery itself, 2) damage to other property, 3) business interruption losses, 4) or all three combined. This is also known as machinery breakdown insurance.

Business Income Insurance

You’ve had a property loss and are no longer able to do business at your main location. This insurance is a time element coverage that  pays for loss of earnings or income when business operations are interrupted, curtailed or suspended due to an insured cause of property loss. Also covered with this policy is loss of rents and rental value. Additionally, extra expenses incurred to continue operations at another location are included, as long as they reduce the total amount of loss.

Workers Compensation Insurance

Making sure your employees are protected is good business for you and employee morale. Should an employee become injured or contract a disease because of their job, this policy covers that. All states have laws that require workers compensation protection and prescribe the length and amount of such benefits provided.
