In 1989, Bill merged his family agency with The Unland Companies. In his position of Executive Vice President of our benefits department, Bill and his staff are responsible for the sales of group and individual products, payroll related products, and all pension/estate products. Patrick J. Taphorn, CIC Vice President After completion of his education and basketball career at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, Pat joined The Unland Companies in November of 1989 as the Controller of the agency. In 1994, he broke into the sales field and has been providing risk management solutions to both his commercial and personal clients since that time. In addition to being a lifelong Pekin resident, Pat has also served the community in a number of volunteer capacities. He has been coaching varsity basketball at Pekin since 1996, culminated his 8 years of board and executive committee chair assignments with the Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce as President in 2001-2002, attained his Certified Insurance Counselor designation in 1997 and in the same year was nominated to the Peoria Area 40 Leaders Under 40. Ryan joined The Unland Companies in December of 2008. Prior to that he was in the mortgage and banking industry in the Chicago area. Ryan was born and raised in the Pekin area and graduated from Peoria Notre Dame High School. He then attained his degree at St. Ambrose, where he also played soccer for 4 years. Mike is a lifelong resident of Pekin and a graduate of Bradley University. His background includes thirty plus years in human resources administration in the healthcare industry and service as a Board member and Personnel Committee Chairman for numerous area organizations and associations. He joined The Unland Companies in 2002 and is responsible for managing the Human Resource Services program for Unland clients and area businesses and organizations. Chad, a graduate of Illinois State University, joined The Unland Companies in January of 2004. His focus as Financial Services Manager ranges from reviewing and implementing business retirement plans for all types of businesses to Individual Financial Planning. Through a new and expanded Financial Services Department, The Unland Companies can now offer clients various investment products such as Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds, Annuities, IRA’s, and Tax advantaged investments.
