Afton Booth, CIC
President
Upon graduating from Western Illinois University, Afton joined the Insurance Company of North America (INA), now known as CIGNA, as a marketing representative in Illinois. He came to The Unland Companies in 1980 and became President of the agency in 2008. He has been a Rotarian for 30 years, served as President of the East Peoria Rotary Club, a District Governors Representative and is a Paul Harris fellow. Afton is a Certified Insurance Counselor and is responsible for sales of business insurance.

Jeff Peterson
Chairman & CEO
After serving as an officer with the United States Marine Corp, Jeff joined Aetna Life & Casualty as a marketing representative in Iowa and Illinois. In 1975, he joined The Unland Companies. His duties as Chairman and CEO include providing service to his clients and the Agency functions of operations, finance, claims and training.

Bill Shock, CBC
Executive Vice President
In 1989, Bill merged his family agency with The Unland Companies. In his position of Executive Vice President of our benefits department, Bill and his staff are responsible for the sales of group and individual products, payroll related products, and all pension / estate products. Bill serves on several not-for-profit and professional association boards.

Patrick J. Taphorn, CIC, CSRM
Vice President
After completing his education and basketball career at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, Pat joined The Unland Companies in 1989 as our Controller. In 1994 Pat moved to Sales. Pat serves his community well—Past President of the Chamber of Commerce, Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach and member of the 40 Leaders Under 40 group. Pat is a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and the first Certified School Risk Manager (CSRM) in Illinois.

Mike Franks
Human Resources Consultant
Mike is a lifelong resident of Pekin and a graduate of Bradley University. His background includes 30 plus years in human resources administration in the healthcare industry and service as a Board member and Human Resource Committee Chairman for numerous area organizations and associations. He joined The Unland Companies in 2002 and is responsible for managing the Human Resource Services program for Unland clients and area businesses and organizations.

Ryan Davis, AAI
Agent
Ryan joined The Unland Companies in December of 2008. Prior to that he was in the mortgage and banking industry in the Chicago area. Ryan was born and raised in the Pekin area and graduated from Peoria Notre Dame High School. He then attained his degree at St. Ambrose, where he also played soccer for 4 years. His focus is the sale and service of commercial and personal insurance and employee benefits.

Andy Gilson

Andy joined The Unland Companies in April of 2010. Prior to joining the Unland team, he was a captive agent with Country Financial for 3 years in Lewistown, IL. Andy, a graduate of Western Illinois University, is an avid outdoorsman and is a committee member of the Havana Ducks Unlimited Committee. His focus is the sale and service of commercial and personal insurance and employee benefits.

Diane Houlihan
Registered Investment Advisor
Diane attained her insurance license in 2000, and has experience selling and servicing both personal and commercial lines. She most recently worked as a Training Instructor for an insurance company where she trained agents seeking continuing education credits on policy language and products. Diane joined The Unland Companies with an extensive sales background and will concentrate on commercial insurance.

A life long resident of Macomb, Steve has been an educator, a coach and an official. Steve began his insurance career more than 30 years ago as a Country Companies agent, joining Citizens Insurance in 2000. Active in the Macomb community, Steve is a Rotarian, Chamber board member, and has served as President of the Macomb Country Club.

Tina worked for Country Financial from 2005 - 2008. She then worked as an advertising agent for a local newspaper before coming to Citizens Insurance Services, Lewistown, in January 2009 as a CSR. She obtained her P&C license in 2007 and her health / life license in 2009. In February 2010, her role changed to Agent / CSR for the Lewistown office.

Jennie has worked in the insurance industry for nine years when she started as a CSR in the Roseville office of Citizens Insurance Services. Jennie received her P & C license in 2001 and life / health in 2002. She earned her CISR designation in 2008. She has served as agent / CSR in the Roseville office since 2007.

Geraldine Winter

Geraldine joined Winter Insurance in June of 1974, after graduation from East Peoria Community High School. Over the years there is no aspect of the agency that she has not touched, from file clerk to management and sales of personal insurance, commercial insurance and financial products. She has enjoyed serving various civic organizations as a volunteer board member. This includes the East Peoria Rotary Club and East Peoria Chamber of Commerce where she has served as Board member, President and Ambassador.

Janelle Hensley, CISR

Janelle joined Winter Insurance in March of 1978 as an East Peoria Community High School co-op student. That was the start of her lifelong commitment to the agency as she began her career ascent to obtain her insurance license in 1982 and her CISR designation in 2003. She concentrates today on a dual role as Assistant Office Manager and Personal Lines Manager. Janelle is a lifelong resident of East Peoria and enjoys being a member of East Peoria Kiwanis where she serves on their Board and as Speaker Chair and is an East Peoria Chamber of Commerce volunteer.
